The word bungo loosely translates from Japanese as “literary master,” which is what almost the entirety of the cast is comprised of. Members of both the Armed Detective Agency, as well as their adversary, are inspired by real-life Japanese authors who were highly influential to the crime and mystery genres, and their abilities are in-turn inspired by their literary creations. The storytelling is as hard-boiled as it comes, and when these famous literary figures start slinging their powers, it’s sure to delight any fan of the action genre.
2.God Eater
Set in a post-apocalyptic Japan in the year 2071, the world has been
mostly destroyed by mysterious monsters known as the Aragami. An
organization known as Fenrir was made to exterminate Aragami using 'God
Arcs', weapons made from Aragami cells. Those who specialize in
exterminating Aragami are known as God Eaters. Their God Arcs originally
could only keep a single form, however a new type has been discovered
that can switch between gun and blade form. Since then, they have been
classified new-types and the previous as old-types.
3 KUROKO BASKETBALL
Kuroko's Basketball, known in Japan as Kuroko no Basuke , is a Japanese sports manga series written and illustrated by Tadatoshi Fujimaki. The English rendering The Basketball Which Kuroko Plays also appears in the artwork of the Japanese version. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from December 2008 to September 2014, with the individual chapters collected into 30 tankōbon volumes by Shueisha. It tells the story of a high school basketball team trying to make it to the national tournament.
4 FATE STAY NIGHT UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS
Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (officially Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]) is a 2014–2015 action, thriller, fantasy anime based on the visual novel Fate/stay night produced by Type-Moon. The plot of the episodes is primarily based on the Unlimited Blade Works storyline in the Fate/stay night visual novel, in which Shirō Emiya,
a high school student and amateur magus living in Fuyuki City, Japan,
is dragged into the Fifth Holy Grail War, a secret magical tournament.
In it, seven participants, known as Masters, and their Servants, reincarnated personifications of legendary heroes of history, fight in a battle royale for the Holy Grail, an omnipotent magical chalice that can fulfill any wish or desire for its victor. Shirō and his Servant, Saber,
are forced to team up with Rin Tōsaka, another Master in the Holy Grail
War, but Shirō finds himself earning the strong dislike of Rin's
mysterious Servant, Archer, whose motivations are unknown.
5 FULL METAL ALCHEMIST
Fullmetal Alchemist (Japanese:Hepburn: Hagane no Renkinjutsushi, lit. "Alchemist of Steel") is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa. It was serialized in Square Enix's Monthly Shōnen Gangan magazine between August 2001 and June 2010; the publisher later collected the individual chapters into twenty-seven tankōbon volumes. The world of Fullmetal Alchemist is styled after the European Industrial Revolution. Set in a fictional universe in which alchemy is one of the most advanced scientific techniques, the story follows two alchemist brothers named Edward and Alphonse Elric, who are searching for the philosopher's stone to restore their bodies after a failed attempt to bring their mother back to life using alchemy.
6 AJIN
The story is about a student named Kei Nagai (Nagai Kei),
who discovers he is an immortal "Ajin" when he is hit by a truck. He
becomes a wanted person because the Ajin are considered dangerous
inhuman beings and the only person who is there to support him is his
childhood friend, Kaito. While the government claims to help Ajin live
in a safe environment, they are actually using them as subjects for
cruel and inhumane experimentation. As a result, Ajin that have escaped
are bent on revenge with the exception of Kei. During his escape it is
subtly revealed he lacks the capacity for empathy and throughout the
series only shows an interest in his own goals, pointing to the
conclusion that Kei has antisocial personality disorder.
7 PSYCHO PASS
Psycho-Pass (Japanese: Hepburn: Saiko Pasu, stylized as PSYCHO-PASS) is an anime television series that was produced by Production I.G, directed by Naoyoshi Shiotani and Katsuyuki Motohiro and written by Gen Urobuchi. The series was aired on Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block between October 2012 and March 2013. The story takes place in an authoritarian future dystopia,
where omnipresent public sensors continuously scan the mental states of
every passing citizen. Collected data on both present mentality and
aggregated personality data is used to gauge the probability of that
citizen committing a crime, the rating referred to as that citizen's Psycho-Pass.
Authorities are alerted whenever excessive ratings are detected, and
officers of the Public Safety Bureau are dispatched with weapons called
"Dominators", energy pistols that modulate their power in response to
the target's Psycho Pass. The story follows Akane Tsunemori and Shinya Kogami among other members of Unit One of the Public Safety Bureau's Criminal Investigation Division.
8 TOKYO GHOUL
Tokyo Ghoul (Japanese: Hepburn: Tōkyō Gūru) is a Japanese manga series by Sui Ishida. It was serialized in Shueisha's seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump between September 2011 and September 2014 and has been collected in fourteen tankōbon volumes as of August 2014. A sequel titled Tokyo Ghoul:re began serialization in the same magazine in October 2014 and a prequel titled Tokyo Ghoul Jack ran online on Jump Live. A 12-episode anime television series adaptation by studio Pierrot aired on Tokyo MX between July and September 2014. A 12-episode second season, Tokyo Ghoul √A,
which follows an original story, began airing on January 8, 2015, and
concluded on March 26, 2015. A third season of the anime has been
confirmed, though with no clear release date. In North America, Viz Media is publishing the manga while Funimation has licensed the anime series for streaming and home video distribution. The anime was obtained by Madman Entertainment for digital distribution in Australia. As of June 2016, there were over 18 million copies of Tokyo Ghoul in circulation.A live-action film based on the manga was announced in June 2016 to open the summer of 2017.
